I read the reply to the "Can I get my money out of Brazil question". What exactly is meant by "the money must enter the country via the central bank" - after all the central bank and Banco do Brasil aren't exactly (only almost) the same thing. We transfer money to Brazil fairly regulary using the £3-£4 a go agents that advertise in the ex-pat Brazilian press in London. They give a better rate and are considerable cheaper (and you can do it over the phone/internet etc) than BdoB. The money arrives in a bank account in Brazil and so far as I know no rules are being broken. Would this qualify?

I am a Brazilian living in the UK. Should I go to Brazil and buy a property by myself or should I rather buy it throght a agent in the UK. Is it not cheaper buying it by myself???

Nick,
I am thinking of buying a 3 bedroom apartment in brazil. It is located on the beachfront in Maracajau. It features gated community with 24 hour security, restaurant, bar, 6 swimming pools, spa, gym, tennis court, soccerfield, golf course and they come fully furnished. Do you consider this is a good area and good value for money. Thanks

Hi
I am writing to you with the same questions as the mail posted January 09 from Kian Walsh regarding the scheme at Beachfront Maracajau called Porto Dos Corais.
Do you think it is a good safe investment.
Regards
Colin

I am considering buying a 480 metre squared plot of land, right on the frontline to the beach in Maracajau, Brazil (in front of the Porto dos Corais development) for 35 000 pounds. Do you consider this to be a fairly good/safe investment ? I am a little concerned about the the stability of the land for foundation purposes, as obviously at some stage I would like to build on the land (would I have to pay for some kind of geological test to satisfy stability criteria for foundations , or should this be done by the agent selling me the land ?) Could you also advise if this area has ever had any hurricanes or tsunamis, as I noticed several sand deposits several hundred meters into the land

Property investors are now turning their attention to Brazil as it fast becomes a leader in the field of emerging markets.
There are many advantages of Brazil Property Investment:
1. Property capital appreciation of 20% per annum in some locations.
2.President Lula’s progressive policies, bringing many improvements to Brazil, including a decrease in inflation to an all-time low at 5.7%.
3. Active encouragement and incentives for foreign investment - you can own 100% of land and Brazil property.
4. Cost of living only 20% of that in the UK/Europe and property maintenance costs extremely low.
5. Some of the lowest property prices in the world.
